The Great Blogger Lockout Crises of 2008 Ends

Yeeeeaaaaahhhhhh - I'M BACK!! I have access again to http://daviddust.blogspot.com/ - and that is where I'll be doing my blogging for the foreseeable future.

First of all, I am kind of glad this happened, because it made me realize that although the content on DavidDust is mine, it's kind of like having your stuff in a rented apartment - if the landlord locks you out, you can't your neat stuff. This was definitely a wake-up call.

I am also glad I figured out how to "backup" to WordPress. In the future if this ever happens, I can move directly over there and not miss a beat. Albeit without my fancy Statue of Liberty header.

And thirdly, even though I really couldn't afford the $90 I spent to buy http://www.daviddust.com/, it is something I've been meaning to do for a long time. If I want to continue growing my blog into the international powerhouse of Papis and Recaps that I hope for, then chaining myself to Blogspot will only hold me back. So I'm glad this drama forced me to do this.

Lastly, this crises really made me see how important my blog is, and how important all of YOU are to me. The first thing I thought of is not being able to connect with you - and that upset me. So don't ever leave me, darling Dust Bunnies, or I'll go crazy!!

We now resume our regular scheduled programming at DavidDust...

I Need Advice!

Darling Dust Bunnies -

This 'DavidDust In Exile' thing is making me a little crazy. Prior to yesterday's "lockout", I feel like my blog was gaining readership, gathering momentum and was on a roll. I was interacting with some of the people I blogged about - and even had some feelers out for more interviews. I just got a fancy new header, and in exactly three weeks, it will be my (and OUR) 1 year blogiversary. I love this blog ALMOST as much as I love Arby's, and I feel like this lockout situation has stopped all the momentum I was building.

I have been all over the Internet today trying to find out as much information as I could. First of all, I purchased http://www.daviddust.com/. I have been meaning to do that for a while now, and this situation finally prompted me to act. But because I am computer-challenged, the idea of actually setting up my very own website scares the bejeebus outta me. Even with Kitty's pledge of help.

The second thing I did was figure out how to import my ENTIRE blog onto WordPress. At http://daviddust.wordpress.com/, you will find my 1,200+ posts and your 5,700+ comments, all intact. I can update, post, and do everything I could over at Blogspot. At the very least, this is an excellent backup in case of a Blogger crash or a permanent deletion of my blog.

So my question to you all is this - what should I do now? Should I continue to blog here at GailsFunbags while I wait for Blogger to let me back into DavidDust - or should I just move over to WordPress altogether (but I want MY HEADER!!!!)? If I DO change over to WordPress, how can I redirect my Blogspot URL to WordPress (I know it can be done, but it looks confusing - and I'm scared I'll screw shit up). And what should I do with http://www.daviddust.com/?

Any and all advice is welcome, because I'm feeling somewhat overwhelmed by it all. Please let me know what you think, either in the comments or via email at daviddust.gmail.com

Thank you, my dumplings - and have a great weekend.

Holla! (sorry, I can't help it)

XOXO

Holla!

Check out Gawker's commentary on this week's Project Runway - it's pretty funny. Thanks to Dust Bunny Joe for the heads up.

Arialdy's Beach Buddies

Remember our friend Arialdy Garcia (see posts here, here, and here)? I found a couple of pictures 0f him at the beach with his buddies. Yum.

I'm Not The Only One

This "Spam" block has happened to "thousands of bloggers" - according to Joe.My.God - who is ALSO locked out of his blog.

Joe has one of the most popular gay blogs in the nation - if HE is locked out with "thousands" of others, how long will it take to "review" all of these sites?!?

This is bullshit. I purchased a domain name today, and even though I know NOTHING about how to do this, I hope to eventually be blogging at http://www.daviddust.com/. Thanks to Kitty for the referral.

Speaking Of Funbags...

"David" loves the boobies!!

Daddy Of The Day In Exile - Roberto

DavidDust: In Exile!

Who knew that a joke blog about Gail Simmons' boobies would come in so handy!?! I will be posting here until this Blogger mess is cleared up. For those of you who didn't read my Top Chef recaps, here is the post in which we were introduced to Gail's Funbags Blog.

First of all, here's what I've figured out. Based on some sort of formula, Blogger automatically "locked" my blog, so it can investigate whether or not it's a SpamBlog. As far as I know, I was NOT blocked due to "adult" or inappropriate contact. If someone DID flag me for that, I will stab them in the neck with the dirty fork I am reserving for Suede (from Project Runway).

So, for now, I cannot post anything at DavidDust, or edit posts that already exist.

I have requested a review from Blogger. What happens next is an actual human being will take a look at my blog, and determine it is legitimate (I hope!). At that point, I will be able to blog at DavidDust again.

So until then, let's enjoy this little blog about Gail's funbags...

XOXOXOXOXO
